Arabidopsis mutants were screened for enhanced susceptibility to the fungal biotroph Erysiphe orontii, a powdery mildew. The Arabidopsis mutant eds16 is more susceptible to Erysiphe orontii than wild type Columbia plants and is deficient in salicylic acid biosynthesis.
